WBEZ interviews Gary Comer Youth Center Alum Adeeb Borden

“Being a Chicagoan means you’re determined,” said Adeeb Borden, 17, who despite only learning to read in sixth grade now runs his own nonprofit.

WBEZ spoke to Chicagoans about their love for the city and its people as eyes turn to Chicago as the site of the Democratic National Convention. Adeeb Borden, 17, met WBEZ’s Anna Savchenko at the Gary Comer Youth Center on the South Side, which helped him overcome great challenges in his early days. The high school senior founded CEO’s of Color, a nonprofit that helps Black and brown teens start their own businesses.
