From the Comer Family Foundation

Since 2004, we’ve hosted the annual Comer Climate Conference, an opportunity for Comer Fellows and guests to convene for presentations and discussion. We look forward to seeing old friends, and making new ones, and we hope you will take the opportunity to connect with us online to keep that tradition alive. Learn more about the history of the Comer Climate Conference and our environment work.

Changelings Member David McGee is currently working on impacts of past AMOC changes on the tropical Indian Ocean, with a focus on rainfall changes in Madagascar and their relationship to east-west temperature gradients, and thinking about how these past changes relate to future projections. His group is also using speleothems to reconstruct past changes in the autumn monsoon in central Vietnam, and we are working to understand high-latitude speleothems from Northwest Territories, Canada.

Inspire, Energize & Amplify Teen Climate Action

In 2022, Comer Family Foundation launched a pilot program connecting diverse teens with climate education, employment and opportunities to succeed on inclusive, multidisciplinary climate pathways.

Led by Marji Hess, Teens Take On Climate (TTOC) collaborates with partners to provide climate programs for teens and teen-serving organizations. Teens Take On Climate supports youth to advance climate justice through experiential learning, employment, and engagement in their communities. TTOC brings climate to life for teens by connecting it to their passions. Programs include field trips, outdoor recreation, community projects, guest speakers, plus career exploration and jobs. In July 2022, Teens Take On Climate became its own 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
